awSCAPE was asked to change a blank canvas into a contemporary, but relaxing garden that attracted bees and butterflies. The clients were after creating a space that was intimate, calming, with a small patch of warmth and full of insect life. Their first home together, I worked with this couple to create a garden that had a coffee terrace, a larger patio for family gatherings, plus a secluded seating area in the ‘warm’ garden. Planting with purples and blues, and hints of white attractive to butterflies and bees. Orange flowers provided hints of warmth in the intimate corner and white birch provided strong verticals to retain the focus within the garden. Herbs and sensory plants surround the coffee terrace, all centred around a lawn for the grandchildren to play.
