Awscape worked collaboratively with Pell Frischmann engineers, to design out traffic and street clutter that previously dominated the area. With close consultation with Manchester City Council, general public, local business and Withington Regeneration Partnership, Awscape designed a new public square within the Conservation Area to encourage people of all ages to stay and play, along with space for events.
The site focused on maximising benefits for pedestrians of all ages, incorporating beautiful artwork and high quality materials and street furniture as well as enhancing biodiversity and sustainability. Rain gardens create colourful and leafy boundaries along the roads, increasing biodiversity and managing rainwater.
Government funding for this exciting redevelopment project was secured by Manchester City Council from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF)
