We were really pleased to support this project on the Childerley Estate for Statkraft, which has been approved as the site for a new solar energy farm and due to commence construction in 2025. The site was carefully chosen for its potential to supply clean, solar-powered electricity to the national grid, connecting to existing pylons on the site. Once up and running, it’ll generate around 60GWh a year - enough to power up to 14,200 homes.
As part of our role, we carried out the Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment and developed a detailed landscape mitigation and biodiversity enhancement plan. This included reinforcing existing hedgerows, planting new trees and hedgerows to help screen views, and creating strong wildlife corridors across the site. We also specified wildflower seed mixes tailored to support local biodiversity, including mixes designed to benefit bird species such as corn bunting.
It is great to work on projects like this which support the transition to renewable energy while also enhancing the landscape and creating space for nature.
