Who We Are

Our Background

Awscape was formed in 2018 by Allison Walters to be a landscape architectural practice that could really make a difference to new and existing developments by combining nature, water and landscape design to create unique sites for people and wildlife. What Allison didn’t realise was that she was on a journey to discovering the true meaning of sustainability and how this has embodied itself in Awscape’s values of being:

Our Values

Ethical

We believe we have a moral obligation to help everyone to create a better world, for it to be in a better condition than it is currently. We will do this by using our knowledge and expertise in landscape architecture, biodiversity, place making and human interaction with passion and dedication. And also through our dedication to sustainable living and working.

Human

To be human is to be vulnerable, willing to learn, willing to listen, to be open, honest and above all to be loving. We will endeavour to be human in all that we do, leading the way in showing everyone in business and in life what being human really looks like in order to make massive changes in all our lives so that we can live sustainably.

Change Makers

We will lead in the way development is designed and built, willing to challenge the status quo, pushing for high quality environments for everyone and driving change for a positive and environmentally rich future for all. We will also lead by example and show others how working sustainably can lead to a more sustainable lifestyle.

Our Way

Landscape & Wildlife

When we go to site our team really embody themselves in a site, as if we are living, working, walking and breathing in that location. We then design these locations for people who will be within that place. We work collaboratively with ecologists to design spaces that are rich in wildlife and are unique and connected to the location around them, so they are full of life thus immersing people in nature whether they are at work or home to bring huge health benefits. 

Landscape & Water

Awscape also has a great passion for water as it is the life giver but also the life taker. We feel it demands huge respect on all developments and existing spaces. Awscape values the need to hold water in safe spaces on site, to slow the flow, to clean the water, and to gradually release clean water into our water courses. We work closely with drainage consultants to design as much surface SuDS as possible at source right to the point of discharge. These can have huge wildlife and place making benefits and sites are enriched with these well connected designs.
